One Love #8 - Kilford the Music Painter

When Jayne told me bout the Music Painter, I pictured this old man alone on a stage painting landscapes with classical music playing gently in the background. Wow was I happily wrong!! I somehow stumbled along Kilford's Facebook page and immediately booked tickets for his next gig...ONE LOVE #8!
Basically Kilford paints with his fingers and sketches what he hears. He sees colours when he hears music! He sets himself up on the stage alongside various bands and artists during their gigs and delivers the most original and inspiring art feat. music show ever!!
We had the privilege of seeing him sketch to an amazing Indie band called Vices and a Hip hop/rap/rock/electro duo Akala.
He has a Chewits Tuesday completion [check it out on FB] and Jayne won the week before this gig...I won't be repeating how she won it but she managed to arrange an interview with Kilford. So we got to meet and chat to him before the gig and I was really happy to hear that he had worked with South African Fashion Designer Gavin Rajah at the Aids Fundraising event Positive unites artists against Aids at Sun City!!
I'm super excited to still be in London for One Love #9...tickets are booked...watch this space!!

And here's another taster....

Tagging Berlin

Kate and I did a quick visit to Berlin on our way to Prague this past summer. To say Kate is a graffiti fanatic would be putting it mildly and Berlin definitely satisfied her fetish. Everywhere we looked [not just the Berlin Wall] were people expressing themselves in this creative way. Kate even got the chance to tag the Berlin wall as they were preparing for a huge skater & graffiti fest!!

Art London

One of the best things about London is that if know the right people or know where to look, you can get into most places free!! Kate managed to get us tickets to Art London which was an
amazing mix of art from traditional paintings to photography, mixed media and sculpture. I got 10 points for spotting the Bansky first.

Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships 2010 - Centre Court Experience

After my awesome Wimbledon experience in 2009, I almost laughed off going again this year. Luckily Bianca suggested we go after work when the queue would hopefully be shorter than earlier in the day.
Not long after we were in and looking for a seat around the
smaller courts...three men approached the lady standing next to us and each one proceeded to hand her Centre Court Tickets each telling her it was her lucky day. She then began to ask in her astonishment who else was a pair and I jumped at the chance...and ended up with two of these tickets! Bianca and I then headed straight for Centre court and watched Rafael Nadal defeat Robin Haase. We also watched a bit of ladies doubles enjoying the moment and after more delicious strawberries and cream handed our tickets to a couple of elderly ladies to pass on the love!

Clerkenwell Design Week - 2010

Clerkenwell is a Suburb in London full of design and interior product showrooms as well as the offices of many Architects, Graphic & Interior Designers. During a week in May this area comes to life with a festival of all things design. You can pick up a street map on every corner which marks off all the participating showrooms and just wander in and be greeted with a drink, eats and all the info you require on their products. The highlight for me was a game of badminton on a mini court sitting on an office chair.
